Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Cheryl Kennedy, 69, of Yukon passed away peacefully Monday August 5, 2013 in Oklahoma City after a brief battle with cancer. She was born February 29, 1944 in Shawnee, Okla.
She was raised in Pauls Valley, Okla., where she met the love of her life David Kennedy and were married August 14, 1965. They have been living in Yukon since 1979, coming here from Altus, Okla.
Cheryl worked as a second grade teacher for Yukon Public Schools for more than 20 years, teaching some at Shedeck Elementary, but the majority of her years were at Skyview Elementary.
Cheryl’s passions included spending time with her friends, cooking, playing bunco, being a member of the Late Great Chevy Club and attending Oklahoma football games. Most of all, she enjoyed precious time with her grandchildren.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Ray Keith and Lucille Brinley and brother Keith Brinley.
Survivors include her husband David; daughter Kristian Brandstetter and her husband Eric, and grandchildren Kennedy and Peyton of Frisco, Texas; brother Steve Brinley and wife Ellyn of Croton on Hudson, N.Y.; and nieces Melissa Boston, Morgan Melnikoff and Meg Brinley and many other wonderful relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 12 at Road Baptist Church in Bethany. Arrangements are by Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon.
