James ‘Bill’ West

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — James William “Bill” West of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Covie and Ruby (Jones) West on June 30, 1945 in Russellville, Arkansas and passed from this life on April 4, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years.

 Bill grew up and attended school at Shawnee, Oklahoma and John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bill attended college at C.S.U. in Edmond, Oklahoma.

 On September 22, 1978, Bill married Lois Payne Utley in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in Elmore City, Oklahoma in 1984 and opened the Badger Den. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed traveling. The highlights of his life were his children and grandkids.

 Mr. West is survived by his wife Lois West of the home; 2 sons: Drew West and wife Tabitha of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and James West II and wife Nancy of McKinney, Texas; 2 daughters: Kim West-Boothe of Elmore City, Oklahoma, and Shelly West of Chevy Chase, Maryland; brother Alex West and wife Carol of Richardson, Texas; 2 sisters: Joyce Mercer of Elmore City, Oklahoma, and Debbie White and Linda Haynes of Plano, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Anissa West, Dylan West, Safire Reynolds, Tyler West, Haiden West, Morgan West; 2 great-grandchildren, Preston West and Sereniti West; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents Covie and Ruby West; son-in-law Walter James Boothe; and brother-in-law Bill Mercer.

 Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell officiating.

 Interment was in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
