Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Leon Morris of Stratford was born June 11, 1925 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Walter J. and Emma (Eeds) Morris. He passed away May 22, 2013 at his home north of Stratford, Oklahoma surrounded by his children and grandchildren, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 11 days.

 When Leon was born he was born with a twin sister shortly after their birth their mother Emma died and then so did his little twin sister.

 He grew up in the Stratford area. He joined the Navy at the young age of 17 and served during WW II. His Navy buddy from Alabama, introduced him to his sister Pearlie Mae Pelfrey.

 Leon and Pearl communicated by letters for three years until the war ended and then he traveled to Alabama to meet her in person. They were married 10 days later on February 25, 1946 in a furniture store in Oneonta, Alabama.

 The following year, after the birth of their first daughter, they moved to Oklahoma. In the following years they were blessed with six more daughters and one son.

 They moved to Stratford in 1954 and raised their family on their Red Bird Hill farm north of Stratford.

 He made a living building houses and founded Stratford Diamond Star Homes, also opened a hardware store. Later he went to school and recieved his realtor license. He then owned Stratford Sunshine Real Estate.

 He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Stratford Masonic Lodge and Stratford American Legion.

 He was preceded in death by parents, wife Pearl, 1 grandson Cody Smith, and 1 brother Elvis Morris.

 He is survived by 1 son, David Leon Morris and wife Connie of Ada, Okla..; 7 daughters: Evelyn Bradley and husband Butch of Stratford, Okla., Nancy Duncan and husband Jerry of Ada, Okla., Sarah Rooker and husband J.E. of McLoud, Okla., Cindy Paul of Ada, Okla., Mary Shivers and husband Phil of Ada, Okla., Becky McClaflin and husband Wes of Blanchard, Okla., and Leah Lyon and husband Bryan of Ada, Okla.; 1 sister, Reba Magar of Stratford, Okla.; 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

 Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

 Services were held Sunday May 26, 2013 at the Stratford Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Lewis Perry and Rev. Darrel Bradley.

 Burial followed in McGee Cemetery in Stratford, Oklahoma. Arrangements were under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford.
