Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Bobby Joe Hines Sr. of Lindsay, Okla., entered this life on July 13, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Okla., born to the late Robert H. Hines and May (Webster) Hines and entered eternal life on May 22, 2013 at the age of 83 years.
He grew up in Pauls Valley and graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1946. After graduation, Bobby Joe joined the U.S. Army and was a tank commander.
During his time at Fort Knox, R&R led him in to Louisville, Ky., where he met a waitress named Barbara Joan Godfrey. They were married on June 19, 1952 in Louisville, Ky. She remained the love of his life and faithful companion until her death in June of 2006.
The couple made their home in Pauls Valley, Okla., until 1962, when they moved to Norman for five years before returning to Garvin County. During these years the couple raised their children and he followed his passion which was work.
From 1953-1967 Bobby Joe was employed by Shebester Inc. He later was part owner of Ray’s Well Service in Maysville and for a number of years did custom farm work. He became the owner of Hines Well Service in Lindsay and was currently the owner of Hines Location Lighting.
He enjoyed ranching, and farming. Bobby Joe always led by example. He was a hard worker and expected his children to follow the example he set.
Anyone who met Bobby Joe knew he loved his family, had a passion for what he was doing and lived life well.
Bobby Joe is survived by 3 sons: Bobby Hines Jr. and wife Nancy of Elmore City, Okla., James W. Hines and wife Linda of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Richard Hines and wife Phyllis of Lindsay, Okla.; 2 daughters: Connie Lutz and husband Lewis of Yukon, Okla. and Linda Eckert Hines of Lindsay, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, and 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bobby Joe Hines Sr. were held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, Okla. with Joe Terrell officiating.
Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
