Derrel Dewayne Parkey of Kaw City, Oklahoma was born to Hubert and Eula Myrtis (Mercer) Parkey on March 14, 1940 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on March 1, 2013 in Ponca City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.
Derrel grew up and attended school in Elmore City, Oklahoma. After graduation, Derrel began his career as an electrician and worked for REA out of Lindsay, Oklahoma. He also worked for Whitefield Electric in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma for a number of years.
Kaw City, Oklahoma has been his home for the past four years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Parkey is survived by his son Nathaniel Mark Parkey of Georgia; daughter Debra Denise Giles and husband Jay of Garland, Texas; brother Jackie Parkey and wife Novella of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; sister Donna May and husband Rudy of Udall, Kansas; 2 grandchildren, Nicki and Rayna; 3 nieces: Jacqueline Trent of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Paula Jennings of Cashion, Oklahoma, and Kimberly Harper of Wichita, Kansas; and nephew Donald Parkey of McAlister, Oklahoma.
Mr. Parkey was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Eula Myrtis Parkey.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the New Life Tabernacle Church in Purcell, Oklahoma with Rev. John Genn officiating.
Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
