Wanda Willis

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Wanda Willis, 87, died September 23, 2013 at the Mansion at Waterford in Oklahoma City.

Wanda was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on July 25, 1926 to Mary and U.G. Logan. She was the youngest of 10 children. She grew up in the Beaty community of Garvin County.

Wanda attended Pauls Valley High School where she was a member of the girl’s basketball team, and thought it unfair that girls couldn’t play full court basketball. Wanda was ahead of her time.

Wanda married George Willis in 1947. They built a home on an acreage outside of Pauls Valley where they raised cattle and cared for a large family garden. Following George’s death in 1990, Wanda moved back to town in where she designed and had a home built on North Ash Street. Wanda loved her home and resided there for over 20 years.

Wanda’s interests included family, gardening, sewing and politics. Wanda always took pride in her appearance and she loved everything pink.

She was involved in many community activities in Pauls Valley and she was a 20-year volunteer at the Pauls Valley Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a lifelong member of the Pauls Valley Church of Christ. Wanda not only attended church, but was devoutly Christian in the way she lived her life. Wanda had a multitude of friends and family in Pauls Valley who depended on her as much as she depended on them. This is why she loved Pauls Valley and always wanted to remain there.

Wanda was predeceased by her husband George, her mother and father and all her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Larry Willis and his wife Juanita Bacus-Willis of Oklahoma City; daughter, Renee Graham of Plano, Texas; grandson Scott Graham and his wife Stephanie Graham of Colorado Springs; and Kyle Graham of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Mr. Dwight Brown. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the family’s guestbook at HYPERLINK “http://www.stufflebeanfuneralhome.com” www.stufflebeanfuneralhome.com.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2123 N. Classen Blvd., OKC, OK 73106.

Larry and Renee will always remember the love and care provided by their mother and father, and are comforted by the fact that they are now re-united.
