Rosa Leona Burns

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Rosa Leona Burns, 82, was born in Antioch, Oklahoma on September 16, 1930 to James Edward and Leona Grace (Lowry) Arledge Dehart and entered eternal life on March 27, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

 Rosa grew up and attended school in Maysville. On August 30, 1948 she married Jack Carl Burns in Gainesville, Texas. Together the couple made their home in Pauls Valley and then moved to Lamont, California. In 1994 they returned to Pauls Valley.

 Rosa was a member of the Hamony Baptist Church of Lamont, California. She loved reading and playing bingo. Rosa enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and working crossword puzzles.

 Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughter Sharon Pingleton and husband Don of Pauls Valley; 2 sons James Burns and wife Deborah of Ada, Oklahoma, and John Burns and wife Patricia of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren Cheryl Riggs, Brian Pingleton, Marla Johnson, Brian Martinez, Sammy Gibson, Denise Burns, Jamie Burns, and Josh Burns; and 14 great-grandchildren.

 Mrs. Burns is preceded in death by her parents James and Leona Arledge; her husband Jack Carl Burns; her brother Carl Arnold; sisters Valley Daffern, Jessie Mae Henry, Eva Martin, Dovey Pearce, Lovey Chastain, Mary Whitefield, Nora Duffy and Irene Arledge; and her granddaughter Sarah Burns.

 Graveside funeral services for Rosa Leona Burns are scheduled for Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Dehart officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
