Virginia Lee (Clagg) Herrin

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Virginia Lee (Clagg) Herrin was born on September 26, 1931 in Lindsay, Okla. and departed for her Heavenly home on March 27, 2014. She resided in Purcell, Okla. and then spent most of her life in Midwest City and later Pauls Valley, Okla. She married her one-and-only love, William (Bill) Herrin on February 11, 1949.

Virginia was employed outside the home in food service for the University of Oklahoma (OU) and Star Spencer High School, but her primary role and passion was caring for her home and family.

Her devotion to her family, both close and extended, was evidenced by her ability to keep up with all the technology necessary to maintain those important relationships, including a presence on Facebook.

She was dedicated to each member of her family and took such joy in any opportunity to visit with them, often telling one of her funny stories she was so well known for.

Bill and Virginia also enjoyed traveling and camping with their families for many years.

Virginia and Bill were saved and became Christians at the Billy Graham Crusade in Oklahoma City in 1956. She and Bill were members of Dickson Baptist Church in Spencer, Okla. and upon Bill’s death in 2004, she moved to Pauls Valley and transferred her membership to Trinity Baptist Church.

Her faith in God and astounding strength and resilience throughout the battles she fought in her health was an amazement to all who knew her, including the medical professionals involved in her care. Her grace, courage and quiet strength were an encouragement to all.

Virginia will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, beauty and elegance, faithfulness and sound advice, among many other qualities that earned her the reputation for being so classy, lovable, feisty and precious.

She had many interests and hobbies, including collecting teapots, angels, and roosters and treasured finds at thrift and antique stores. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet and crafted so many special creations for her family.

She made enduring memories with the other crafty gals in her family during craft and quilting retreats. Virginia was a cherished wife, mother, grandma and sister. She will be dearly missed until we are reunited in Heaven.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, William L Herrin, parents, Andrew and Ida (Southard) Clagg, brothers Arthur Clagg, Ray and wife Betty Clagg, sister-in-law Glenna Clagg and two great-grandchildren, Juliet Anabella Virginia Acree and Grayson James Adamo.

Brothers Roy Clagg and wife Nancy of Ratliff City; Marion Clagg and wife Reba of Scurry, Texas; Don Clagg and friend Gene Oliver of Lindsay; sister-in-law Wanda Clagg of Lindsay; and Paul Clagg of Oklahoma City.

Grandchildren: Amy Acree and her husband Brandon, Kelly Adamo and her husband Robert, Karrie Deighton and her husband Andy, Jon Hutchins and Samantha Spagnola, Rachel Dawson and her husband Brian, Victoria Beattie and her husband Sean, Jon Shultz and Kelly Kiorpes, Chris Shultz and Lauren Poe, Elizabeth Shultz, Zak Kastl, Katie Kastl, Ashten Troutman, Allora, Allyssa, Alleah, and Arriah Herrin, and Christi Jordan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Sufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, 500 N. Willow, Pauls Valley, Okla., with the Rev. Dwayne Johnson presiding. David and Linda Coffey of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home are providing the funeral arrangements. A private graveside service will be conducted for the family at the Arlington Cemetery in Midwest City, Okla.
