Jefferson Early Learning Center students are still full of energy and blessed with the love of having minds open for learning.

Thank you to the parents who are truly their first teacher for allowing JELC the opportunity to provide rich, engaging and well-rounded experiences for your child and know that education is about fostering curiosity, along with the development of social skills so needed to succeed.

We are now in the second semester and I keep asking myself, “Where did the first semester go?” I always heard as a child that time goes by in a “Blink of an Eye” and I am understanding this more as the years go by.

Throughout the school district the flu has dominated January. Students are also struggling with the secondary infections as well. We are encouraging parents to follow doctor’s instructions as to when to return to school. Hopefully, we can put the flu behind us and all look forward to spring.

With that said, our JELC calendar has been full.

February leaped into action with the 1st being our 100th Day Celebration. Teachers had several activities to incorporate the number 100 and students had a surprise ending to the beautiful day with an ice cream celebration for all.

Groundhog Day quickly followed and students proclaimed the groundhog saw his shadow and were saddened by more winter weather.

February 14th is a special time to celebrate love, sharing and kindness at JELC.

Valentine’s Day will begin with a Pre-K program at 12:30 for their parents. I always enjoy the programs presented by the students. It is a unique time for all to come together to enjoy the entertainment provided with the guidance of their teachers and staff.

Valentine parties will follow for Kindergarten and Pre-K and will begin at 1 p.m.

I would never want anyone to overlook the most important part of the month which is Parent Teacher Conferences.

Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 14 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. and on Thursday, February 15 from 3:15 to 7 p.m.

Parents please join us for your personal scheduled time set aside to discuss your child’s educational success. You as parents/guardians are one of the most crucial aspects of their education. Our staff is honored to be such a small part of their school years.

It is a wonderful feeling when we see our little Panthers grow up and walk across the platform in a high school graduation ceremony with diploma held high in pursuit of their dreams! What an accomplishment for such a small individual that began at JELC.

So as I began, in the “Blink of an Eye,” time will pass so enjoy your life experiences as a Mighty Panther.
