Lindsay’s Shoemake drove the length of the floor in the final four seconds and hit a shot in the lane to lift the Leopards to a 59-57 win over the Pauls Valley Panthers Friday night.
Shoemake had tied the game at 57 with 40 seconds remaining after hitting a pair of free throws. He would miss a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left and Pauls Valley would get the ball with a chance to win.
The Panthers got an open 10-foot shot that wouldn’t fall and then got a steal. A pass was made to the corner where Matt Perry put up a shot. His shot was blocked into the hands of Shoemake who went down and hit the game winner.
Neither team could miss early and the game went back-and-forth. Mason had 10 of Lindsay’s 14 opening quarter points while Perry had six for the Panther.
Carter Tate came to life in the second quarter with 11 points as PV built a 7-point halftime lead. Treston Williams had five points early in the second half as PV’s lead grew to 10.
Shoemake ended a three minute drought with three free throws and Lindsay closed the third quarter on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 47-44
Pauls Valley held onto the lead until the two minute mark of the fourth when Shoemake would hit a pair of free throws for a 55-53 lead, their first since the 7 minute mark of the second quarter.
Treston Williams would hit four straight over the next minute to give PV the lead back. Shoemake would then tie the game and gave Lindsay the win at the buzzer.
Mason led the way for the Leopards with 22 points. Shoemake added 15 and Eubanks 12 for the players in double figures. Stubblefield had 8 and Verble and Sutherland one each.
Williams led the Panthers with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Tate added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Perry finished with 9 points, Greg Balcerak 8, Shedrick Murray 4 and Breydan Jackson 3.
The Panthers play Dickson Saturday night at the Panther Gymnasium.
