Cummings sinks PV at the buzzer

Mike Arie
Pauls Valley Democrat — Lindsay’s Andrew Cummings was in the right spot at the right time as he rebounded a missed shot with under five seconds remaining in Friday’s game with Pauls Valley and put the ball back in as the buzzer sounded giving Lindsay a 43-42 win.

Pauls Valley had led by as many as seven in the second half but the Leopards chipped away at the lead and had a 41-39 lead with under 30 second left. Garrett Hamilton cut the lead to 41-40 with a free throw and then Dewayne Sanders came up with a steal and a basket with 18 seconds left that gave the Panthers a 42-41 lead.

Lindsay got the ball up court and had an open look but the shot missed. Cummings rebounded the ball and put it back in as the horn sounded lifting the Leopards to the win.

Hunter Mason led the Leopards with 14 points. Genesis Meave led the Panthers with 12 and Sanders added 11.

In the girls contest, three Leopardettes scored in double figures to lead Lindsay to a 63-33 win over Pauls Valley. Hibbard had a game high 19, Hatfield added 16 and Moore 11.

Pauls Valley was led by Veronica Alvarado and Cherykee Humphrey who both scored 8.
