Badgers, Savages post wins

Both Elmore City-Pernell and the Wynnewood Savages remained perfect in district play after defeating district foes on Friday night.

Edgar Gonzalez continued to churn out the yardage for the Elmore-Pernell Badgers in a 33-31 win over one of the district favorites Wewoka at Wheeler Field.

Gonzalez had 194 yards on 33 carries with four touchdowns to lead the Badger offense. Cole Ratchford raced around the 100-yard mark again finishing with 93 yards for the Badgers.

Derek Medford had only one carry Friday night but he made it count scoring from 15 yards out. Tyler Sharp had 13 yards rushing and was 1-of-1 passing for 21 yards in the Badgers win.

The Badgers had 315 yards on the ground.

The Badger defense came up big to help secure the victory recovering a Wewoka fumble late as they held on for the win.

In Wynnewood, the Savages had 337 yards in total offense while giving up on 60 yards in a 42-6 win over Maysville.

Pete Carter had 114 yards through the air with three touchdowns to help spark the Savage offense. The Wynnewood backs had 223 yards on the ground against the Maysville defense.

The Maysville offense couldn’t muster much all night. They finished with 65 yards passing. For the second straight week the WW defense held their opponent to negative yardage in the passing game holding the Warriors to minus 5 yards.

Elmore City-Pernell travel to Wynnewood next week for an all-important battle for an early lead in the district standings.

Maysville will be at home as they host Cashion in a non-district game.
