Rivalry to come to an end tonight

marie@pvdemocrat.com — This will be the last meeting between rivals Maysville and Elmore City-Pernell on the gridiron for what appears to be a very long time.

The two squads located only 15 miles apart have long been rivals with some fierce games over the years.

Thursday’s match up will be the last as Maysville will drop to 8-man football where they will pick up a rivalry with Paoli.

The Badgers will be looking to stay close in the district A-5 race, even though they lost their first district game at Wynnewood last week.

ECP is tied for third at the current moment with Wewoka, but they own the head-to-head match-up over them.

Maysville is still looking for their first district win and their first win since a week one win over Woodland.

Elmore-Pernell will be looking to get their offense going again after Wynnewood held them in check last week.

The Badger defense, which has played well all season, struggled against the much quicker Savage squad giving up 48 points.

Maysville had a good game against a tough Cashion squad last week. The offense put up some good numbers and points but the defense struggled against the balanced attack that Cashion brought to Warrior Field.

The rivalry will bring out a lot of fans to Thursday’s game. Add in that it’s Elmore City-Pernell’s homecoming and the crowd and the game get even bigger.

Homecoming activities will be at 7 p.m. with kick off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Jerry Wheeler Field.
