Lady Panthers fall to No. 7 Lindsay

marie@pvdemocrat.com — If there is such a thing as moral victories the Pauls Valley Lady Panthers had on Friday night as they took the No. 7 team in Class 3A down to the wire before falling 46-41 to the Lindsay Leopardettes.

The Lady Panthers jumped out quickly in the opening quarter behind a 6-0 run that gave them an 11-5 lead. Lindsay hit a late three pointer to cut the lead to 11-8.

The 3-pointer would spark a 12-2 run that gave Lindsay the lead for good. The Leopardettes took a five-point lead into the break.

The Lady Panthers rallied in the second half tying the game on three different occasions. Each time PV tied the game, Lindsay would make a push and extend the lead back out.

Abigail Grimmett had seven straight points in the fourth quarter as PV tied the game at 34.

Clark and Mather gave Lindsay a 4-point lead by hitting 4 of 6 from the line.

Jessica Richardson’s 3-pointer gave PV life but Lindsay went on an 8-2 run in the final two minutes for the 5-point win.

Moore led Lindsay with 13 points. Lujan and Clark added 11, Mather 9 and Allison 2.

A. Grimmett led the Lady Panthers with 12 points. McMahan added 9, Richardson 8, Balcerak 6, Lambeth 4 and Trammell 2.

PV hosts Dickson tonight at 6:30 p.m.
