No. 1 Savages roll to win

marie@pvdemocrat.com — After the Gore Pirates scored the opening touchdown and held No. 1 Wynnewood’s offense on their first possession, many on the Pirates side of the field were talking upset.

Wynnewood finally got rolling scoring 67 unanswered points in a 67-15 win in the opening round of the Class A playoffs.

The Savages are not know for their passing game but they may be after Friday night. Senior quarterback Jace Brown threw for 510 yards on 12-of-17 passing and had four touchdowns.

The Savages had a couple of long passes and runs called back or they may have eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark in the game as they finished with 802 yards combined.

The Savages had 292 yards on the ground as both Trey Knowles and Curtis Rushing went of the 100 yard mark. Knowles finished with 137 while Rushing had 104.

The defense gave up some yards in the contest as Gore had 430 total yards including 286 through the air.

The Savages will be at home again next week as Morrison comes to town. Morrison defeated Fairland 38-12 to advanced to the Class A playoff second round.
