Panthers win one, tie one

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Junior Varsity Panthers won one and tied in another game in the Ardmore Festival Friday.

The Panthers beat the Ardmore Tigers 4-0 behind Tyler Butts 3 hit shut out on the mound.

Butts went five innings giving up no runs on three hits. He struck out 7 and walked only one.

Colin Arie led the offense with two of the Panthers five hits and one of the team’s three doubles.

Coleton Jolley had a double and an RBI and JT Starr had a single and an RBI. Devin Baker had the other double for PV.

Starr reached on catcher’s interference in the third. Austin Foxworth came into run and scored on passed ball.

Baker started off the fourth with a double and scored as Arie followed with a double. Jolley then doubled home Arie and Jolley scored on Starr’s single.

Against Lone Grove, PV took an early lead as Baker walked and Arie singled to start the second inning. Both scored on Jolley’s double for a 2-0 lead.

Lone Grove took a 3-0 lead in the second off a hit batter, three walks and a single.

PV tied the scored in the third as Johnson reached on an error and scored on Arie’s fielder’s choice.

Matt Perry and Eddie Johnson worked out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth without a run scoring.

The Panthers sent the game to extra innings after Manny Cardoza made a catch in right field and gunned down a runner at home for the final out of the inning.

PV scored in the sixth as Baker reached on an error and scored on Coleton Jolley hit.

LG tied the game in the sixth and the game ended with the game tied at 4 after time expired.
