PV wins opener at regional

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — The Pauls Valley Panther Prep team used a 5-run third to blow open their opening round regional game with Bridge Creek Friday afternoon.

The Panthers turned a 3-0 lead into an 8-0 lead and rolled to an 11-1 run-rule of the Bobcats.

Treston Williams pitched gem of a game for Pauls Valley going four innings. He gave up a run on two hits, struck out five batters and walked only one.

The Panther offense was sparked by Deven Baker’s 3-for-4 night as PV pounded out 11 hits with Jeremy Sawyer and Eddie Johnson both having two hits each.

PV scored one in the first off Baker’s RBI single that scored Sawyer.

They scored two more in the second as Kaleb Galaviz singled home Johnson and Colin Arie.

In the third PV sent 10 batters to the plate with Arie and Matt Perry both driving in a pair of runs off singles.

Three more runs in the fifth put the game away as Bakers doubled home a pair of runs for the 11-1 win.
