Panthers end losing skid at LA

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Panthers ended a 3-game skid and ended Little Axe’s 3-game win streak with a 62-51 win at Little Axe Friday night.

Treston Williams, Carter Tate and Greg Balcerak all scored in double figures for the Panthers.

PV trailed only twice in the game at 4-3 and 11-10. A 16-3 run at the end of the first and into the second gave PV the lead for good as they turned that deficit into a 12-point lead.

Pauls Valley built their lead to 15 at one point in the second half but a late run by the Indians cut the lead to four at the end of the third quarter.

Little Axe would close the gap to four on two occasions in the fourth. Pauls Valley started putting some distance between them and the Indians midway through the fourth with a 9-2 run.

A pair of late free throws by Tate gave PV a double digit lead and win as they finished with an 11-point win.

PV faces Tuttle Saturday as they look for their second conference win.
