It’s Sharp Bowl VI in Wayne Friday night as brother’s Sam and Brandon square off in an A-5 district battle.
Both started the season with a win but both have dropped their last two contests and are looking for a ‘W’ in the win column in this first district match up.
Wayne has struggled without Preseason VYPE Top 100 player in Oklahoma, Louden Johnson.
“Their best player, Louden Johnson, is out,” ECP coach Sam Sharp said. “He really is a great football player. He makes almost every tackle on defense. He’s there leader on that side of the ball.
“They are having a hard time without him. They are still a really good team. They’ve had some bad breaks. One of those things where it just seems where if something is going to go wrong it’s going to go against them. I’ve been in that situation with injuries and things like that before.”
The Bulldogs are trying to find an identity without Johnson at running back. They have some good backs and a big offensive line but they haven’t been able to find the end zone the last two weeks against a very tough Minco and Meeker squad.
“They are still big up front and will push you around, their backs run hard and they can throw it if they have too,” Sharp said.
The Badgers will look to continue to play hard on defense and keep going on offense.
“One key thing this week is we have to finish drives,” Sharp said. “We can not afford to get inside the red zone seven times and come away with only one touchdown.”
