marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Maysville Warriors had more yardage than Wewoka they just couldn’t find the end zone as often losing 36-19 in a Class A-5 district matchup last week at Warrior Field.

Maysville finished with 316 total yards from a balanced attack of 176 rushing and 140 passing. But three turnovers didn’t help matters ending potential scoring drives and giving the Tigers and opportunity to score. Wewoka finished with 299 yards, 208 on the ground and 91 through the air.

Dakota Elmore had a big night on the ground for Maysville with 93 yards rushing on 18 carries. Trey Willoughby had 59 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns and 140 yards through the air.

Derek McGuire had 19 yards rushing and 12 yards receiving. Kaleb House had four catches for 55 yards and Clae Bailey had four catches for 26 yards.

The Maysville defense had its moments including a 54-yard interception return by Zach Ashbey for a touchdown. Ashbey, Elmore and Zane Deviney led the defense with 8 tackles each and Jonathan Akins and 7 and Willoughby added a second interception.

Maysville is on the road this week as highly rated Wynnewood.
