Stratford falls to Wewoka

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Stratford put up some points Thursday night but it wasn’t enough against the high powered Wewoka offense as the Tiger prevailed 53-31.

Wewoka jumped out quickly via the pass at Darius Roberts had TD passes of 4, 8 and 8 to give Wewoka a 20-0 lead. Stratford broke into the scoring column late in the first as Chase Bradstreet his Lane Martin with a 6-yard TD strike.

Roberts connected with Collin Wood just before the half from 47 yards away to give Wewoka a 27-6 halftime lead.

After a pass happy first half, the teams went to the running game in the second half.

Trae Johnson would score three times for Wewoka on runs of 3 and 56 and also a 65-yard kickoff return. Curtlon Panoske would add a 57-yard TD run for the Tigers.

Stratford would also hit the ground running. Montie Thomas scored on runs on 19 and 12 yards and Kyle Wade added a 14-yard TD. Jacob Compton would power his way in from 2 yards out late to make the final 53-31.

Stratford finished with 401 total yards, 270 on the ground and 131 through the air. Wewoka had 543 total yards, 364 on the ground and 179 through the air.

Stratford will finish up the three ‘W’ with a game as they host Wynnewood.
