Area athletes qualify for state

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Several area athletes qualified for the state track meet in Carl Albert this weekend.

Wynnewood and Stratford all had athletes qualify at Saturday’s regional in Cache.

Curtis Rushing of Wynnewood qualified in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.72.

J.D. Flowers, of Wynnewood, finished third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.86 to qualify for state.

Flowers finished second in the 400 meter dash in a time of 51.58 to qualify. Matthew Blackburn also qualified in the 400 meters with a time of 53.52.

Blackburn was a regional champ in the 800 meter run finishing in a time of 2:05.38.

Stratford’s Duke Davenport qualified in the 3200 meter run with a third place finish in a time of 11:42.36.

Wynnewood’s Pete Knowles was a regional runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles finishing in a time of 15.11.

Knowles was a regional champ in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 41.05. Keyante Prince qualified in the 300 hurdles in a time of 44.72.

Wynnewood’s 400 meter relay team of Curtis Rushing, Pete Knowles, Pete Carter and Flowers finished third in a time of 44.82.

Wynnewood’s 800 meter relay team of Knowles, Dylan Bruner, Carter and Flowers finished third in a time of 1:33.76.

Wynnewood’s 3200 meter relay team of Chad Seale, Shelby Kile, Richard Hopper and Noah Johnson finished third in a time of 9:25.21.

Stratford’s 1600 meter relay team of Kyle Qualls, Cade Savages and Blackburn qualified with a time of 3:42.24.

Kile qualified in the pole vault with a jump of 9-0.

Carter qualified in the long jump with a jump of 19-09.25.

Levi Allen was a regional runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 41-05.5.
