Pitching dual ends in 2-1 Panther win

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Stratford’s Randy Brown and Pauls Valley’s Joe Kyle Foster battled into extra innings before Panther David Flores ended the game with a walk-off home run and a 2-1 Pauls Valley win.

Both pitches had great outings. Brown gave up two runs on 8 hits and struck out 8 in the game. Foster gave up 1 run on 5 hits and struck out 10.

Chris Kozak got the game started for Stratford with a single. He moved around the bases and scored off a Pauls Valley error.

That 1-0 lead would hold up until the seventh inning. Pauls Valley had the bases loaded in the second with one out and had runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning but couldn’t come up with the hit they needed.

In the bottom of the seventh, lead off hitter Ty Knight stepped to plate. After watching to pitches go by out of the strike zone, Knight got a pitch he like and sent it sailing over the left field fence tieing the game at 1-1.

The game went to extra innings and Stratford couldn’t get anything across in their half of the inning.

Flores led off the bottom half of the inning for Pauls Valley. Brown quickly got ahead in the count with two strikes.

Flores then got a pitch he like and sent the ball sailing. The ball quickly left the ball park over the left field fence scoreboard and gave the Panthers a 2-1 win.

Kozak led the Stratford offense with two hits. Knight and Flores both had two hits to lead the Panther offense.

Pauls Valley is hosting Anadarko and Sulphur in a three-way today beginning at 3 p.m.
