Pauls Valley JV Panthers beat Altus 2-1

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley JV Panthers won their opening game of the Chickasha Tournament on Thursday in Chickasha.

On Thursday, Tyler Butts and Eddie Johnson combined to strikeout 12 as they gave up only a run on five hits in a 2-1 Panther win.

Pauls Valley scored a run in the first as Nick Sager walked with one out. He advanced to second on Noah Davidson single. He stole third and scored on a passed ball for a 1-0 lead.

Altus tied the game in the bottom half of the inning as Cleveland singled moved to third on Baldwin’s double and scored on a passed ball for a 1-1 tie.

PV broke the tie in the fourth as Deven Baker singled to start the inning. He moved to second on Colin Arie’s single. A sacrifice bunt by Colton Jolley advanced both runners into scoring position. J.T. Starr got an RBI as he hit a ground ball to third and Baker scored easily for a 2-1 lead.

Butts and Johnson and would face only four batters in each of the last four innings as PV held on for the 2-1 win.
