Pauls Valley, OK, Pauls Valley Democrat

Errors cost JV in tournament finals — Errors were a killer for the Pauls Valley JV Panthers in the finals of the Chickasha Tournament. The Panthers committed four timely errors giving Tuttle 8 runs as they cruised to an 11-1 win over PV.

Three different pitchers did a good job for Pauls Valley they just didn’t get the backing defensively.

Matt Perry pitched one strong inning and one good inning before the wheels came off. He retired the side in order in the first and got his fourth straight out with the first batter in the second.

A couple of walks and an error followed by a double netted three Tuttle runs in the second, all unearned.

A single to start the third by Tuttle was followed by three errors. That led to five runs crossing the plate.

Tyler Butts came in and got the final two outs of the inning for Pauls Valley.

PV gave up three more runs in the fourth as Eddie Johnson gave up those three runs all unearned.

Pauls Valley blew a chance to grab the early lead squandering a lead off double by Johnson and a single by Nick Sager to start the game.

A squeeze bunt attempt ended in a double play as PV didn’t get the bat on the ball and had runners hung out to dry between third and home and second and third.

A two-out rally in the fourth did net the lone run of the game. Noah Davidson singled with one out but was out at second on a force on Deven Baker’s ground ball.

Baker moved into scoring position on a couple of passed balls and Colin Arie delivered the bloop single to center that scored Baker and ended the shutout.

Pauls Valley varsity and junior varsity will be in action tonight at Lexington.
