Purcell rallies past Pauls Valley late — The Pauls Valley Panthers held a 5-0 lead heading into the top of the sixth inning.

Four errors in the span of five batters allowed Purcell to bat around and score six runs to take their first lead of the game.

Pauls Valley tied the game in the bottom half of the inning but Purcell plated two runs in the seventh for an 8-6 win.

Treston Williams pitched four strong innings but couldn’t get out of the fifth after getting two outs. An error followed by a walk and then three more errors ended Williams outing.

Williams gave up six runs, none of which were earned. He struck out four while walking only two.

Tyler Butts finished out the game for Williams giving up two runs, both earned, on four hits.

Pauls Valley got on the score board in the third inning. Drake O’Bryant and Tanner Hamilton were both hit by pitches to start the inning. Williams bunted them into scoring position and both scored on Devin Baker’s single.

The Panthers added three more runs in the fourth. Butts walked to start the inning. O’Bryant doubled moving Butts around to third. Hamilton walked to load the bases.

Williams reached on an error scoring Butts and an error on Baker’s grounder scored O’Bryant. Hamilton was out at home on a fielder’s choice.

David Flores single reloaded the bases. Caleb Jones walked to score Williams giving PV a 5-0 lead.

The wheels came off in the sixth as Purcell batted around scoring six runs off two hits and four errors.

Pauls Valley tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. Williams singled with one out and score on a two out error.

Purcell took the lead for good in the seventh. Three straight singles with one out followed by a walk and another single put the Dragons up 8-6.

Matt Perry singled giving PV hope in the seventh but he was stranded their as the game ended with back-to-back outs.

PV hosts Little Axe this afternoon.
