marie@pvdemocrat.com — Pauls Valley got off to a slow start Friday in Marlow but came back strong in the final three quarters holding on for a 49-47 win over the Outlaws.

Marlow opened up a 12-point lead in the game behind four three pointers from Hazel and Beasler who had two each to give Marlow a 16-6 lead.

Pauls Valley finally got on track in the second quarter behind play off the bench from Joe Kyle Foster and Dewayne Sanders who combined for 11 points in the quarter. The Panthers used a 10-2 run to get back into the game and a 15-5 run that tied the game at 24.

Sanders continued to get open to start the second half as he scored 7 points. PV took their first lead of the game with just over three minutes left in the third quarter. An 8-2 run at the end of the quarter gave PV the lead that carried into the fourth quarter.

The Panthers led by as many as 7 before a scoring drought allowed the Outlaws to get back into the game. Marlow scored five straight to cut the lead to two and trailed by that same margin with under a minute to go.

PV had a chance to put the game away with a pair of one-and-one opportunities but missed both times. Marlow had a chance to win at the buzzer but Nuefeld three at the buzzer just missed as PV held on for the win.
