The Maysville Warriors dropped to the 8-man ranks for the start of their season and got off to a bang with a 45-0 win over top 10 Woodland.
The Warriors wanted to get started quickly and they did as Derek McGuire returned the opening kickoff 90 yards to give Maysville a early 7-0 lead.
Tight end Dakota Henry would get into the scoring action a little later in the first quarter as he hauled in a 22 yard touchdown pass from Trey Willoughby. On the Warriors next possession Willoughby found Henry again this time for a 21-yard touchdown and a 19-0 lead.
The Warriors weren’t done in the first quarter as Dalton Elmore capped off a drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.
McGuire would score his second touchdown of the night on a 44-yard run early in the second quarter.
Willoughby would get into the scoring action with a 3-yard touchdown run in the middle of the second quarter.
Late in the first half, Elmore would scoop up a fumble and return it 28 yards to a touchdown. That would take the game to half where the game would end in a mercy rule.
Maysville will return to the 11-man ranks next week as they travel to Empire.
