The Stratford Bulldogs rushing attack chewed up for Coalgate for 329 yards and the defense chained down Coalgate for only 55 total yards in a 31-0 home opener win at Blackburn Field in Stratford.
Chase Bradstreet went over the century mark and Kyler Wade was three yards shy in the Bulldog offense. Bradstreet had 103 yards on 11 carries while Wade had 97 yards on 9 carries. Workhorses Kyle Qualls had 86 yards on 13 carries while Montie Thomas had 36 yards on 14 carries.
Bradstreet got the Bulldogs into the scoring column four minutes into the game with a 37-yard touchdown run.
Qualls added a touchdown just before the end of the quarter on a 12-yard run as Stratford took a 12-0 lead.
The scoring would be put on hold until the third quarter when Bradstreet picked off a Coalgate pass returning it 25 yards for a touchdown.
Wade would get into the action in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns. His first came early in the fourth on a 4-yard run. He second TD was late in the fourth on a 15-yard run. Clay Armstrong’s kick made the final 31-0.
Isaac Miller led the defensive charge with 7 tackles and a sack. Kyle Wright added 6 tackles, Kyle Potter had 5 tackles and a sack, Bradstreet had 5 tackles and a pick, Thomas had five tackles and Brant Wade had a blocked punt.
Stratford will take their first road trip Friday night as they travel to Konawa to face the Tigers.
