Panthers fall to Clinton

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — After defeating Bridge Creek in the opener, the Panthers had to turn around and play Clinton to decide who would advance on the winners side of the bracket.

Pauls Valley had an early 1-0 lead but the wheels came off in the third inning when Clinton plated 4 runs and held on late for a 6-3 win over PV.

PV took an early 1-0 lead as Deven Baker singled and scored on Colin Arie’s single.

A two-run double by Brown for Clinton in the third highlighted a four-run inning as Miller, Brooks, Weedon, and Brown all scored for the Maroon.

Clinton put an insurance run on the board in the fourth as Miller doubled and scored on Brown’s single.

A run by Barker in the fifth gave the Maroon a 6-1 lead over the Panthers.

PV rallied in the sixth with two runs as Sawyer doubled home Perry and then scored on Baker’s ground out.

PV had the tieing runs in scoring position in the seventh but couldn’t push a run across and fell 6-3.
