Fugitive here sought in 2 states — The hunt is still on for one Garvin County fugitive now sought by law enforcement officials in two different states.

Maysville resident Garet Lyn White, 25, is wanted in Utah on a fraud case, while authorities here say White violated the conditions of his sentence on a two-year-old check forgery conviction.

Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes says the hunt for the fugitive comes just days after it looked like White was going to surrender himself here.

“He was last seen in Garvin County early last year,” Rhodes said, referring to 2013. “That’s when he was known to last be here.

“We’re looking for him hard and need to get him custody.”

It was last week when the sheriff’s office here was contacted by police in Roosevelt, Utah.

A case against White there included 11 counts of credit card fraud. When he failed to show for questioning an arrest warrant was issued.

Not long after that Rhodes himself received the surprise of White contacting him directly.

Calls from White first came on Sunday, Jan. 5 and continued for two more days.

“He wanted to surrender himself on Tuesday,” Rhodes said.

“He indicated that he was on his way back from Utah.”

White never did show as deputies then began the task to trying to locate him.

White is believed to be driving a 2010 white, four-door Cadillac with temporary Utah license plate. He is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with green eyes and blonde hair.

The case against White here in Garvin County came early in 2012 when he pleaded guilty to six felony counts of writing forged checks the previous year in the Lindsay area.

With that plea White had a term of several years in prison deferred until he completed a drug court treatment program ordered by the court.

When he failed to complete the program a warrant for his arrest was issued last summer.

“When he did not complete drug court and fled the state a warrant was issued on that suspended sentence,” Rhodes said.

According to the sheriff, White has family in the Maysville and Lindsay areas, along with “associates” throughout the county.

“Anyone found harboring or aiding him to avoid apprehension could face criminal charges.”

Rhodes added a Crime Stoppers case from this past week has already been solved.

A tip to the sheriff’s office led deputies to the five teenagers responsible for vandalizing more than 20 mailboxes in the Erin Springs area south of Lindsay.

Each of the teens will face criminal charges through the juvenile court system.

  • ‘Rio 2’ average effort, but still a family win

Though Hollywood will never truly abandon milking characters for franchises well past the expiration date, I will say that even the most mediocre series seems to be getting at least more tolerable than in the past.
