Panthers fall in extra innings — It was a pitching dual with Pauls Valley’s Drake O’Bryant and Bethany’s Doshier battling it out for 7 innings. After those 7 innings Pauls Valley and Bethany were tied at 2 and the game went into extra innings.

Bethany took advantage of two errors and two base on balls. The Bronchos scored five runs and pulled away for a 7-2 win in the semifinal game of the Jeff Davis Classic in Pauls Valley.

O’Bryant gave up all 7 runs, two of which were earned, on 7 hits. He struck out 12 and walked 4. Doshier gave up two runs, one earned, on 7 hits. He struck out 9 and walked three.

Three of Pauls Valley’s hits came from O’Bryant as he singled in his first three at bats in the leadoff position. David Flores and Tyler Butts both had extra base hits. Austin Foxworth and Marr Perry rounded out the hitting with singles.

Pauls Valley squandered men in scoring position in the first and third innings.

A double down the line by L Holliday in the third and a Pauls Valley error led to the first run of the game. Bethany would have back-to-back-to-back singles in the fourth that led to VanZant scoring the second Bethany run.

David Flores doubled to start the fourth for the Panthers. Tyler Butts walked to put runners on at the corners. With two outs Austin Foxworth singled scoring Noah Meave who was running for Flores.

Matt Perry followed with an opposite field single that scored Butts and Foxworth was thrown out at the plate on a close play.

Butts doubled to start the bottom of the sixth. He was stranded there as PV couldn’t get down a sacrifice bunt and then Doshier struck out two and got a ground out to end the inning.

After a quite seventh inning, the wheels came off in the eighth off a couple of errors, a couple of base on ball and a hit.

Pauls Valley couldn’t get anything going in the eight and fell 7-2. They play Davis in the 4:00 game Saturday for third place.
