Push now on for chamber tickets — The push is now on as tickets are available for this year’s big annual event for Pauls Valley’s chamber of commerce.

With a theme of “Jazzin’ It Up In June,” the “celebration” is planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 at the Bosa Community Center.

“Tickets are on sale here and online at our website with PayPal,” said chamber President Sherri Wing, adding the chamber office is at 112 East Paul and the online site is

“I think it will be a fantastic evening allowing folks to reconnect and promote our community as a whole,” she said.

“The atmosphere should be a little lighter than it’s been before.”

Wing continues to stress the event formerly known as the chamber banquet is getting a major overhaul just as a way of changing things up.

For example, the number of awards to be handed out will be minimal as the format change is meant to make the event more like a “networking reception.”

“The change is coming so people can socialize, have fun and just mingle,” Wing says. “We want to celebrate the good people and good things going on in Pauls Valley.

“People will also be able to bid on a variety of silent auction items with the proceeds going to the chamber.”

Setting the tone at the “celebration” is the live music of the Jay Wilkinson jazz group from Oklahoma City. There will also be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Tickets for the event are $25 before June 9 as the total goes up to $35 after June 10; then to $45 at the door on the day of the celebration.

The awards to be given number three as the traditional honors of chamber citizen and corporate citizen will again be featured.

Last year it was a sense of humble gratitude that filled the local meeting center when two individuals, Ronnie Patton and Lucille Ensey, were named the top citizens of the year.

The 2013 spotlight also went to Sharpe’s Department Store for the corporate citizen of the year honor.

Wing remains mysterious about the third award, which will only be revealed at the event.

Salutes will also be going to Howard Grider for serving this past year as the chamber board’s executive director.

Sharon Burgin is set to serve in the role during the coming year.
