email@example.com — The status of a Garvin County murder case is awaiting its next step, while the defendant in a pornography case now has a hearing date set for next month.
A hearing for Shane Christian, 30, of Elmore City has been postponed in his second-degree murder case.
Christian is facing the murder charge on the allegation he caused the beating injuries that resulted in the death of his girlfriend Desiree Hill last summer.
It was originally an assault charge before it went to a murder count after Hill died on June 27, 2013.
A new status conference in the case has been rescheduled for May 16 in a Garvin County District courtroom.
In another case it was also late last week when a prosecutor’s motion was denied to increase the bond for Randy Little, 43, of Byars.
State officials argued for Little’s bond to be increased to $100,000 based on the serious nature of the charges filed against him.
Another part of the state’s argument is Little is a registered sex offender from a federal child pornography conviction in Texas.
Little now faces two felony charges related to what authorities describe as more than 640 images of child pornography on his computer.
A judge’s ruling kept Little’s bond the same on the basis he had initially posted a $25,000 bond in early February after he received a felony charge of possessing child pornography.
It was earlier in April when that charge was dismissed and replaced by counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crime Act.
Little surrendered himself to authorities less than 24 hours after an arrest warrant was issued and a second $25,000 bond was posted in the case.
The case against Little began on Feb. 1 when an employee at the McDonald’s restaurant in Pauls Valley told local police he thought he saw pornographic photos on the laptop computer of a customer.
