Bonnie Lavern McCarty

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Bonnie Lavern McCarty was born to Emory Manuel and Bonnie Ester Centers (Manuel) on August 30, 1935 in Ada, OK and entered eternal life on May 28, 2014 at the age of 78 years.

Bonnie spent her childhood years in Ada, Okla., where she attended grade school. She completed her G.E.D. in Pauls Valley, Okla.

On July 19, 1952 she married Earl Higgins in Arkansas. After Earl passed away, she married Larry McCarty on May 7, 1971 in Gainesville, Texas.

Lavern worked at a variety of different jobs. Most recently she retired from working at the Wal-Mart Cash Office and also retired from the Green Sheet.

She was a member of Beaty Baptist Church, and a member of the Rush Creek Fire District. Lavern enjoyed reading and watching sports on television. She was a big fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team, and also loved to watch Peyton Manning when he played for the Colts as well as the Broncos.

The highlight of her life was her family, with her dogs Lucy and Russell running a close second. The most important thing she taught others was that family is to be cherished.

Mrs. McCarty is survived by her son Richard McCarty and wife Christie of Pauls Valley, Okla.; daughter Kim Puckett and husband James of Pauls Valley, Okla.; brothers Melvin Manuel and wife Joyce of Lone Grove, Okla., and Troy Manuel and wife Jan of Latta, Okla.; sister Barbara Herrin and husband Gary of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Ben McCarty, Kelly Maness, Kelsey Durham, Ashlyn Puckett, and Jesse Puckett; and great-grandchildren Carson McCarty, Carter Maness, Cash Maness, and Cooper Maness,

She is preceded in death by spouses Earl Higgins and Larry McCarty, and parents Emory and Bonnie Manuel.

Funeral services for Mrs. McCarty are scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Beaty Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Black officiating.

Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.

The Pauls Valley Panther Prep Team finished second in the OK Kids State Tournament losing in the championship game to Weathford 11-9.
