Evelyn Little

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Evelyn Little of Shawnee passed away January 20, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years.

Evelyn was born October 2, 1930 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to Raymond Keene and Elsie Florene (Ray) McLeroy.

She was raised in the Wapanucka, Oklahoma area and lived in Pauls Valley where she attended Pauls Valley schools and graduated from Pauls Valley High School. Later she moved for a short time to California during World War II where her father worked in the ship yards.

Toward the end of the war she and Hershel Horace Little were married in Maysville, Oklahoma on December 20, 1947 and they made Shawnee her home where she has lived for over 62 years.

She was a Sales Clerk for Dillard’s in the China Department until her retirement after many years with them. She later became a coordinator in the Meals-on-Wheels program in the Shawnee area at the Senior Citizen’s Building. She was a wonderful seamstress making clothes for her children and many in her family.

Evelyn was loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Shawnee Trinity Baptist Church.

Survived by her two children Jackie Crosser and her husband Kenny, and Johnny Little; one grandson Jeffery Crosser, all of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law Evelyn Little of Comanche; one brother-in-law Murl Little and his wife Lila of Clarksville, Tennessee; one niece and nine nephews, as well as special grand-dogs, Anabella and Little Bit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hershel H. Little; 3 children Timmy Ray Little, Bobby Joe Little and Jennie Mae Little; 1 brother Raymond McLeroy Jr.; a granddaughter-in-law Kassie Crosser; 3 brothers-in-law Russell Little and his wife Juanita, Gary Little and Bernie Little.

Her daughter, Jennie, was known to have passed away of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy. The family requests that memorial be sent for research concerning this disease. You may make memorial in Evelyn’s name at HYPERLINK “http://www.mldfoundation.org” www.mldfoundation.org .

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance.

Interment will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Offering Prayer

Taking a moment to pray before the offering, First United Methodist Church Pastor Mark Watson shared some very good news about the kids who participated in their Vacation Bible School recently. The kids collected donations from their peers every evening managed to raise just short of $1,000 for clean water in India.
