Hoyle Ray Sharber

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Hoyle Ray Sharber, a resident of Wynnewood, Okla., was born on April 22, 1934 in Vanoss, Oklahoma to Viola (Baker) and Ollie Sharber. He passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Pauls Valley, Okla., at the age of 79.

Mr. Sharber grew up and attended school at Stratford, Okla. After graduation he went on to East Central University in Ada, Okla., and achieved a Bachelor’s in Education. He then went to the University of Oklahoma where he completed his Master’s degree.

Mr. Sharber was married to Laura Jane (Griffin) on May 26, 1956 at the Church of Christ in Stratford, Okla.

His working life and retirement were both spent in Wynnewood, Okla., where he started as a grade school teacher, then grade school principal, then high school principal, then assistant superintendant, before his final job as superintendant of schools, all at Wynnewood Public Schools, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Sharber was a past President of Wynnewood Kiwanis Club, First National Bank Board member, and member of the Wynnewood Chamber of Commerce. He was also a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Wynnewood, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Donald and D.C. Sharber.

He is survived by his wife Laura of their home in Wynnewood, Okla.; daughter Jacqueline Sharber of Laredo, Texas; 3 sons and daughters-in-law – Zane and Denise Sharber of Byars, Okla., Greg and Shelli Sharber of Pauls Valley, Okla., and Sheldon Sharber of Pauls Valley, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law Doyle and Mary Sharber of Sulphur, Okla.; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Wynnewood, Okla., officiated by Todd McRay, Clint Brown, and Reuben Rog. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood.
