PV falls at Blanchard; LHS splits

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Panthers and Lady Panthers fell at Blanchard Tuesday night.

The Lady Panthers got 15 points form Kallie McMahan and Pamela Grover scored 10 but it wasn’t enough in a 49-39 loss to the Lady Lions of Blanchard.

Pauls Valley trailed for most of the game but had a run in the fourth quarter to close the gap. They just couldn’t get completely over the hump losing a 10-point contest.

Carter Tate led all scorers with 23 points but the Panthers struggled in the final eight minutes and Blanchard pulled away for a 59-46 win.

Pauls Valley kept the back close through the first three quarters. They trailed by six early but was able to cut the lead to two a couple of times in the third quarter.

Blanchard got on a run in the fourth outscoring PV by 11 for a 13-point win.

In a battle of top 15 teams in Class 3A, No. 11 Lindsay struggled out of the gate to No. 5 Washington falling 69-35.

Washington came out of the gate hot and never really cooled off. Washington scorched the nets for 25 first quarter points in the win.

Brittany Lujan led the Leopardettes with 14 points.

In boys action, the No. 19 Lindsay Leopards got off to a good start and held off No. 14 Washington 44-40.

Lindsay scored 24 points in the first half and led by 10 at half time.

Washington made a push in the third quarter cutting the lead to four but Lindsay responded in the fourth to half on for the win.

Hunter Mason led the Leopards with 13 points and Caden Verble added 10 points in the win.

PV Easter Weekend 2014

Candy seeking kids got a chance to get their fill of treats Saturday at Easter events like the 12th Annual Eggstravaganza at the Garvin County Fairgrounds and smaller hunts like those at Pauls Valley's First Christian Church.
