Wreck claims life of area man

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — A weekend accident claimed the life of a Davis man who got his start in life right here in Pauls Valley.

Killed in the single-vehicle accident late Saturday night was 20-year-old Hunter Watson.

Watson, born in Pauls Valley back in March 1993, was a 2012 graduate of Davis High School.

Among his listed jobs Watson worked with his father at the Quick Lube shop here in Pauls Valley.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report shows Watson was alone while driving a 2003 Dodge pickup westbound on Gateway Road, located in Carter County about 2 miles south and 2 miles west of Ardmore.

At a listed time of 2:26 a.m. Feb. 1 the vehicle went off the roadway to the left and struck a utility pole.

There if overturned one time coming to rest on its wheels, according to the OHP.

Watson, who was wearing seat belts, was pinned in the truck for about an hour before he was extricated by Lone Grove firefighters using the Hurst tool.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries sustained in the accident.

Troopers determined driving under the influence of alcohol was the cause of the collision.

Funeral services for Watson were held Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Davis.

Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with arrangements under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis.

  • ‘Rio 2’ average effort, but still a family win

Though Hollywood will never truly abandon milking characters for franchises well past the expiration date, I will say that even the most mediocre series seems to be getting at least more tolerable than in the past.
