One more fact in murder case — In a kind of get-the-record straight kind of thing one Garvin County official says there’s more to an ongoing murder case than the casual observer might notice.

The case is a second-degree murder charge faced by Brandon Shane Christian, 30.

After a preliminary hearing in Pauls Valley late last week the Elmore City area man was ordered to face jurors on the murder accusation.

A trial date in the case could be set during Christian’s formal arraignment now scheduled for a 9 a.m. start on Feb. 28 in a Garvin County District courtroom.

Christian is accused of causing the injuries that resulted in the death of his girlfriend Desiree Hill back on June 27, 2013.

Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes says the cause of Hill’s death is known.

The questions really come from the “manner” of the woman’s death.

Rhodes said the “probable cause of death” on the medical examiner’s report is “Subdural Hemtoma due to Blunt Force Head Trauma.”

He adds the “manner of death is “undetermined””

“I want people to know the cause of death was head trauma because this fact was such a critical part in the investigation,’ Rhodes said.

As for last week’s hearing for Christian, the sheriff said he was happy the case now goes forward and onto jurors someday.

“I was extremely pleased with the district court’s ruling that probable cause exists for Christian to be held for trial in the death of Desiree Hill,” the sheriff said.

“Even though District Attorney Greg Mashburn and Assistant Prosecutor Corey Miner were presented with numerous challenges in this case by the defense, the state’s presentation of the findings of our investigation was well done by the prosecution team.”
