Ruby A. Smith

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Ruby A. Smith of Shawnee passed away February 15, 2014 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years.

Ruby was born March 5, 1926 in Texas to John and Tolline (Tomlinson) Johnston. She was raised in the Anadarko, Oklahoma area and later lived in the Pauls Valley and Maysville area.

She married Oscar (Jack) Smith in Pauls Valley on June 2, 1946. They moved to Prague, Oklahoma where she and her husband owned and operated a restaurant. After retirement she moved to make Shawnee her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Tolline Johnston; her husband, Oscar “Jack” Smith; brother, Kenneth Johnston; and sister, Patsy Lee Vanworth.

Surviving Ruby include Lindsey Way of the home; her brother, W.C. Johnston and his wife Betty of Pauls Valley; her sister, Lou Wilson of Norman; special friend, Evelyn Harmon of Maysville; special cousins Ruby Way, Brenda Smith, Rosetta Cutsinger and Becky Fordig, all of Antlers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Rev. Curt Bartmess.

Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
