Balcerak leads PV past WW

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Sophomore Greg Balcerak was the only non senior to start on senior night Tuesday.

Balcerak made the most of this start with his second double-double of the year. He finished with 22 points on 11-of-13 shooting and pulled down 14 rebounds in a 64-37 win over rival Wynnewood.

Pauls Valley had a great night shooting hitting 26 of 51 for the night their best percentage of the year.

While the Panthers hit every other shot, Wynnewood struggled shooting 25-percent from the field.

It took Panther coach Tim Johnson just over two minutes before he got his regular starters in the lineup after starting all four seniors.

Sophomore Matt Perry and junior Treston Willaims joined Balcerak, and seniors Carter Tate and Hunter Nation as PV went on a 10-0 run and never looked back.

Balcerak led the Panthers with six points in the first quarter as PV took a 17-6 lead. Perry had seven points in the second quarter, and Balcerak added six as PV opened up a 40-13 lead at the break.

The Panthers struggled a bit in the second half after scorching the nets in the first. Balcerak had 8 of the Panthers 10 third quarter points as Wynnewood trimmed four points off the lead.

PV got those four points back in the fourth quarter behind senior Austin Foxworth’s six points as PV finished with a 64-37 win.

Balcerak led the Panthers with 22 points. Tate added 13, Perry 10, Foxworth 9, Garrett Readnour 4 and Williams 3.

Peter Carter led all scorers with 25 points. Flowers added 6 and Odom, Knowles and Wright had 2 each.

  • ‘Book Thief’ an underappreciated gem

The atrocities and crimes committed during the Nazis’ rise to power may be one of the most documented time periods for cinema, but that does not mean that all the great stories have been told.
