Polls open all day Tuesday

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Precincts all over Garvin County are scheduled to be open for voters during the customary hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4.

On the ballot for all registered voters is a countywide half cent tax up for renewal.

Voters in Pauls Valley will have another half cent tax to consider — this one meant to benefit Pauls Valley General Hospital if approved.

The Garvin County tax in place since 2007 is again up for a seven-year term.

Revenue from the tax is earmarked this time for the county sheriff’s department, county commissioners for roads and the county’s 911 dispatch center. A portion would go into the county’s general fund.

The other sales tax measure is just for Pauls Valley voters.

If voters say yes and pass the tax on a permanent basis, all revenues generated will go to make needed capital improvements at PV General Hospital, specifically updating the hospital’s diagnostic equipment.

Voters are reminded if both issues pass the sales tax level in PV would rise to 9.75 percent overall — an increase of 50 cents for every $100 worth of purchases made here.

A deadline is set for next week for a whole other election later this spring.

Friday, March 7 is the deadline for voters to get registered if they want to participate in an upcoming election in Wynnewood.

This election is set for April 1 as a $20.3 million school bond issue in Wynnewood is on the ballot.

The Wynnewood issue, if passed by at least 60 percent, will go to build a new elementary school.
