Sleepy driver cause of 1-35 wreck

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — A driver’s sleepiness is being attributed as the cause of a one-vehicle accident that sent an Elmore City woman flying into the air this week.

Hurt in the early morning accident was 45-year-old Cynthia Stubblefield.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Stubblefield was alone while driving a 2013 Ford Taurus northbound on Interstate 35.

At a listed time of 5:54 a.m. Monday, April 14 the vehicle went off the highway to the left at a site about 2 miles south of Wynnewood near the 63 mile-marker.

Once off the road the vehicle struck an embankment in the median and went airborne for approximately 60 feet.

The official cause of the accident was listed as “apparently sleepy.”

Stubblefield was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

She was initially taken by a Pauls Valley E.M.S. ambulance to Pauls Valley General Hospital.

The Elmore City woman was later transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was admitted in stable condition in trunk internal injuries.

OHP Trooper Daniel Arms of the Murray/Garvin County Detachment led the accident investigation. Others assisting at the scene were Garvin County deputies.
