Polly A. McKinley

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Polly A. McKinley of Shawnee, Oklahoma was born to James K. and Ola (Beeson) Johnson on February 28, 1924 in Hattieville, Arkansas and passed from this life on April 30, 2014 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.

Polly attended Stillwater A&M and received certification for commercial cooking and dietary planning.

Polly was a cook at Satterwhite School for 15 years and at the Pauls Valley State School for 15 years. She was a member of Satterwhite Missionary Baptist Church for many years and currently held her membership at Hilltop Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Polly married Mason Golden in 1940. She later married Archie Dotson in 1944 and Leroy McKinley in 1981.

In her spare time she loved cooking and fishing. She drove a travel trailer and spent many hours fishing with her husband Leroy. Polly taught others how to be a hard worker. She worked even after she was in a nursing home, in her mind.

Mrs. McKinley is survived by her son Lewis Dotson and wife EllaWayne of Elmore City, Oklahoma; 3 daughters: Ruth Farris and husband Ray of Hurst, Texas, Portia Little and husband Ross of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Joceil Smith and husband Leon of Kingston, Oklahoma; brother Larry D. Johnson and wife Alene of Hattieville, Arkansas; 2 sisters-in-law: Virginia Lee of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mary Johnson of Hattieville, Arkansas; grandchildren: Janice Anderson, Sue Ryan, Gene Dotson, Sheila Nabors, Laura Doss, Lisa Webster, Connie Rogers, Tommy Smith, Sterling Smith, Michael Runyon, Terri Andrade, Kimberly Miranda, LiAnnArmitage, Cathy Robinson and Cindy Scarberry; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Mrs. McKinley was preceded in death by her husbands: Mason Golden in 1983, Archie Dotson in February of 1971 and Leroy McKinley in February of 2000; son Leroy Dotson; brothers M.C. Johnson and James L. Johnson; and daughter-in-law Maxene Dotson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
