Panther season ends in Ada

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Panther baseball season came to a close Thursday in a couple of district losses to the Ada Cougars.

The Panther bats came alive with 17 hits in the two games. Ada’s bats were just as good as they had 22 hits in the two games.

Pauls Valley took an early lead in first game jumping out to a big lead with a 7-run second inning.

Pauls Valley had six hits in the inning including back-to-back-to-back singles to start the inning. Devin Baker, David Flores and Caleb Jones all singled and scored to start the second. Foxworth reached on an error and Tyler Butts with a one out single.

Drake O’Bryant walked to load the bases and Tanner Hamilton was safe on a fielders choice. Treston Williams singled home a run and Baker doubled clearing the bases for a 7-0 lead.

Ada chipped away at the lead scoring four in the third and tieing the game in the fourth with three more runs.

PV regained the lead in the sixth with a pair of runs. Hamilton was hit with a pitch with one out to get the rally going. Williams walked and both runners advanced 90-feet with a stolen bases to put runners in scoring position.

Flores singled scoring both runners and giving PV a 9-7 lead.

Ada tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and won the game in the bottom of the eighth for a 10-9 win.

Baker finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI’s in the game. Flores had two hits and two RBI’s for the only players with multiple hits.

Drake O’Bryant gave up four runs on two hits with two and two/thirds innings of work. Eddie Johnson gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in three and a third innings of work.

Breydan Jackson took the loss giving up three runs on four hits. The trio combined to strike out 8 Ada batters while walking only 5.

Pauls Valley Sinkhole

A state crew was busy working to repair a large hole in the southbound lane of Chickasaw Street in Pauls Valley. Traffic was diverted around the work site near Joy Avenue during the day.
