Toy fun with this garage sale

bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — Garage sales are typically a great place to find some really neat things, especially when the upcoming Pauls Valley event involves toys.

The Toy and Action Figure Museum in downtown PV is planning the big sale early next month.

In fact, the museum is calling it the Super Galactic Garage Sale.

Museum Director Jodi Wood says the idea is to clear out some excess inventory, while at the same time give the public a chance to get their hands on the fun items.

“We’re clearing out our attic,” Wood said. “We’re just clearing out some extra stuff.

“We decided to clear it out by making it available to the public. Why not share these great items with other people?

“It will be all action figure related items included in this garage sale.

“This is the first one we have ever held, so it should be interesting.”

The museum’s garage sale is planned for all day Saturday, May 3. Times match the museum’s regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Like most garage sales this one will also feature fairly low prices as the museum basically clears out its inventory of action figure items literally stuffed away in storage.

She added many of the things included in the sale are actually duplicate copies of the same items.

Plans are to hold the sale on the sidewalk right in front of the museum in the 100 block of South Chickasaw; that is if the spring weather cooperates.

If not the sale would be moved inside the museum.

In a sense the event kind of kicks off the museum’s busier times of the year in the spring and summer.

Up next is the museum’s popular Hot Wheels Double Dog Dare Derby.

The fast action here is set for May 24.

A change coming this year is the Derby won’t be held on the street located to the side of the museum building.

This time around the Derby is expected to be at the Pauls Valley Arts and Cultural Center, located at the corner of Paul and Walnut streets. More on the event will come later.

Then comes the museum’s summer reading program in July.

Wood said a number of surprises are expected for this year’s version of the program that offers a variety of reading and crafts activities.
