Pathers Sixth at Duncan, Girls 3rd at Sulphur

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Class 3A Pauls Valley varsity Panthers stepped up a class or two or three on the links Thursday and the Pauls Valley Junior High girls finished third in the Sulphur Invitational Thursday.

Playing against 4A, 5A and 6A squads the Panthers finished sixth in the field and No. 1 in schools their size in the Duncan Tournament.

Pauls Valley shot a 663 in the 36-hole tournament. They finished behind Norman North, Duncan, Lawton Ike, Norman North B, Deer Creek and McGuinness.

They finished ahead of Altus, Ada, Noble, Duncan B, Marlow, Ardmore and Chickasha.

The Panthers didn’t have a player in the top 10 but had some good scores.

Matt Henry shot a 152, Garrett Fisher a 165, Chase Ensey a 167, James Williams a 178 and Carter Tate a 180.

The girls finished with a 202, 40 strokes behind front runner Plainview and four strokes behind Comanche.

Two golfers finished in the top 10 individualists. Marti Fisher was 5th with a 45 and teammate Sarah Henry was 6th with a 45.

Aly Sam finished with a 55 for the Lady Panthers. Logan Martin added a 57 and Bryssa Atkins a 61.
