Cause of fiery crash unknown

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Authorities are still not certain what caused a vehicle to go off a Pauls Valley area road resulting in the death of a Maysville man.

Killed in the one-vehicle accident early Monday morning was 52-year-old Stanley R. Vick.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report shows the Maysville man was alone while driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Vick was driving the vehicle southbound on a county road about 2 miles east and 2 miles north of Pauls Valley.

At a listed time of 6:55 a.m. March 10 the vehicle went off the roadway to the right.

First it struck a fence before then rolling one time, where Vick, who was not wearing seat belts at the time, was reportedly ejected approximately 35 feet from the vehicle.

The vehicle then caught fire and burned.

Vick was pronounced dead at the scene by Pauls Valley E.M.S. paramedics.

A single word, “unknown,” was listed for both the cause of the collision and condition of the driver in the moments leading up to the tragic accident.

Investigating the accident was OHP Trooper Heath Green of the Garvin County Detachment.

Assisting at the crash scene were Trooper Doug Brinson of Murray County and Trooper Ken Duncan, an OHP vehicle crimes investigator.

Also there were Pauls Valley firefighters and Garvin County deputies helping out at the scene.
