Panthers hit the links, finish 6th in opener

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Panther hit the links Tuesday for their first tournament of the year.

Windy conditions greeted the 14 teams at the Brent Bruhl golf course in Purcell.

The Panthers fought through the wind for a 352 on the day and finished sixth overall.

Destiny Christian and Heritage Hall both shot a 314 but Destiny Christian edged out Heritage Hall for the top slot. Plainvew was third with a 318 and Heritage Hall B was fourth with a 342. Tishomingo finished fifth with a 349.

Matt Henry led the Panthers with a 70. Garrett Fishers shot an 84, Kevin Mendoza a 91 and Carter Tate and James Williams both shot 99.

The Pauls Valley B team finished with a 392 in 12th place.

Chase Ensey led the younger group with an 89. Kevin Kennon shot a 99, Jacob Williams a 101, Johnny Williams a 103 and Hunter Bailey a 113.

The Varsity Panthers will be back on the links in Ardmore after Spring Break in the Dickson Invitational.

Offering Prayer

Taking a moment to pray before the offering, First United Methodist Church Pastor Mark Watson shared some very good news about the kids who participated in their Vacation Bible School recently. The kids collected donations from their peers every evening managed to raise just short of $1,000 for clean water in India.
